The FAA Light Sport Consensus Standards mandate is the harbinger of a "new era" for ballooning and the FAA Aircraft Certification process; the reduced development/certification and liability costs can be passed-on to the consumer, and the ultra-lightweight redundant engineering improves safety. For example, our Light-Sport model qualifies for operation under 14CFR Part 103; the same 56k system can be upgraded for two place operation under the new LSA Rule, or even issued a Standard Airworthiness Certificate. ACME exemplifies innovation and a consumer oriented future for sport balloonists....
